This is a celebration of the victories of the LSU Tigers winning the Sugarbowl BCS National Football Championship and the Southern University Jaguars winning the Football Championship. The parade and festivities will be in Downtown Baton Rouge.

Parade of Champions Headed Downtown on Saturday, January 24th at 12 noon

Parade of Champions Parade Route

The City of Baton Rouge will honor the 2003 National Champions, LSU Tigers, and the 2003 Black National Champions, The Southern University Jaguars, with a �Parade of Champions� on Saturday, January 24th. The ticker tape parade begins downtown at 12 noon, starting on the corner of Spanish Town and 4th Street, proceeding down Fourth Street, south to North Boulevard, right on Third Street, then north to the State Capitol. A ceremony will follow on the steps of the State Capital with comments from players, coaches and other dignitaries at approximately 1 p.m. Joining Mayor-President Bobby Simpson for this historic event will be Lieutenant Governor Mitch Landrieu, Southern University President Leon Tarver, LSU President William Jenkins, Southern University Chancellor Edward Jackson, LSU Chancellor Mark Emmert, Southern Marching Band and Dancing Dolls, Southern University Cheerleaders and mascot, Southern University AD Floyd Kerr, Southern University Football Team, Southern University Coach Pete Richardson, LSU Marching Band and Golden Girls, LSU Cheerleaders and mascot, LSU AD Skip Bertman, LSU Football Team and LSU Coach Nick Saban. �It is a dream come true for the many Southern and LSU football fans in our city. A downtown parade of National Champions will be a great opportunity for the fans to show their joy and appreciation.� Mayor Simpson said. Shuttle buses from both LSU and Southern will run to downtown Baton Rouge with pick-up and drop-off locations to be announced at a later date.

Parade Route Information

Parade of Champions will begin at 4th St and Spanish Town Road. It will head south on 4th Street. to North Boulevard were it will turn right and then another right on to Third St. It will go down Third Street, all the way to the State Capitol steps where a ceremony will be held. Both the LSU and Southern football athletes, bands, cheerleaders, and dignitaries will participate in the parade and ceremony. The public is encouraged to come downtown and celebrate these two great institutions. Free parking will be available in the Galvez garage at the corner of North Street and 5th Street beginning at 6 a.m.

FREE SHUTTLES will be provided from LSU and Southern University to/from downtown.

For LSU:

Shuttle pick-up at the Public Safety Building on South Stadium Road. Fans will be dropped off at the Galvez Garage downtown. The shuttles will run from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. before the parade, and then from 1:30 pm to 6:00 after the parade to transport fans to/from the celebration at Tiger Stadium. Below is a map of the parade route for the Parade of Champions.

For SU:

Shuttle pick-up at the F.G. Clark Activities Center. Fans will be dropped off at the Galvez Garage downtown. The shuttles will run from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. before the parade, and from 1:30 pm to 3 p.m. after the parade.

MAIN STREET MARKET SPECIAL PRE-PARADE EVENTS! Fifth & Main Streets, Opens at 8 a.m. Appearance by Chef John Folse at 11 a.m.
