NOTE FROM CLARENCE: clarence@cajunradio.org Bienvenue! My name is Clarence and I am the webmaster of this non-profit web site. I am also the D.J. for a cajun radio program in Baton Rouge. This web site is my personal site and it is not affliated with the radio station. As a Cajun from Baton Rouge, I have a great passion for our cajun music. It is because of this passion that I have dedicated 10 years of my life to being a non-paid cajun D.J. on non-profit community radio. I consider myself to be a self taught historian of our French music and culture. I do my radio show and this web site for fun and as a public service. I don't receive any money from these hobbies. I hope that you will use this web site to gain a greater appreciation of our music and culture. I make a living by being a computer programmer during the week and I do the Cajun and stuff during my free time. If you can, please help me with the following: First, if you live in the Baton Rouge area, I would really appreciate it if you would listen to my radio shows. Sometimes with Cajun music, us DJ's wonder if anyone is listening. Secondly, I would appreciate it if you could help me out with a little publicity. You can do this by sending a email to everyone you know in the Baton Rouge listening area. Please ask them to listen to my cajun radio show on Saturdays 7pm-8pm on WBRH 90.3 FM (It does not broadcast over the internet) Thirdly, I ask that you pledge your financial support to WBRH/KBRH radio during our fall money raising marathon that is held March 15, 2006. Although we are a low budget non-profit radio station, it takes around $ 40,000 every six months to keep it operating. We have money raising marathons twice a year. We set a goal for each program and the goal for my Cajun radio is $1500. WBRH is run by Baton Rouge High School. Your financial contribution will keep the station operating and it will let the radio station know that the cajun program has the support of the community. WBRH is a non-profit radio station and we are run totally from the financial support of the listening community and people like you who send in donations to support it. We are very lucky to have this station. The commercial radio stations vary rarely play the music that our stations do. Cajun, Blues, Jazz, Reggae, R & B, Classical, etc. For example, last year we lost a cajun program that was previously aired on a local country music commercial station here in Baton Rouge. WBRH has been wonderful for allowing me to air Cajun music and the management has been very supportive our various programs. As a result, I am eager to show the station that our music is appreciated and that there is community support for our radio programs. If you would like to make a donation to our radio station in support of the Cajun program, send me an email with your name, address, and the amount that you would like to donate. I will give your info to the station and the radio station send you a bill. My email address is clarence@cajunradio.org Or, if you prefer, you can call in to the station on Saturday March 15th, 2006 during my cajun radio show from 7pm-8pm at (225) 388-9030. Merci beaucoup cher! :) Clarence Home Site index |
