This is located at http://www.cajunradio.org/midcityhotartcoolnightsarthopbatonrouge.html HOT ART, COOL NIGHTS A Mid City Merchants Art Hop The sixth annual Baton Rouge Mid City Merchants sponsored spring art hop, “Hot Art, Cool Nights”, will be held on Friday night, May 8, 2010, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. This premier spring art event is one of the top in the city as attested by the thousands of art lovers that jam into the participating businesses. This is Mother’s Day weekend, so treat “Mom” to a night out and to a fine piece of artwork. Mid City businesses will sponsor original, local art. Some will be well known local artists and some will showcase new talent. One is sure to see various mediums and styles of art from works of sculptors, painters, jewelry designers, photographers and more. The artist will be present on the night of the event at the business that is showcasing his or her work. The participating businesses this year are Aladdin’s Lamp Antiques, Arnold & Associates Interiors, Baton Rouge Gallery, Bella Bella, Bistro Byronz, Brew Ha Ha, Caffery Gallery, Chef Don Bergeron Enterprises-Mid City Market, Circa 1857, Coleman Partners Architects, Corks N Canvas, Crawdaddy’s Select Crawfish, Elizabethan Gallery, Esom Art, The Funky Palette, Miller & Hampton- Attorneys at Law, Monjunis Italian Café’ & Grocery, Mosaic Garden, Rotolo’s Pizzeria, Rue Cou Cou, Sabai Jewelry Gallery, Stafford Tile & Stone, Stay Doggie Day Care & Boutique; Superior Grill and Victoria’s Toy Station. Mid City is truly the premier art and design district of the city. Its area spans from South 14th to Jefferson Highway and from Claycut to Florida Boulevard. This year proceeds from the art hop will help purchase public art for this area of Baton Rouge. Again, it’s an evening you will not want to miss. For all the people who want to have fun and see what local talent we have here in the Capital City, mark your calendars now. For all the true art connoisseurs who want to add a new piece of art to their collection, as well as those of you who just enjoy shopping, “Hot Art, Cool Nights” is an event you will want to experience. For out of town art lovers, spend the weekend so you can come back on Saturday to take in what you didn’t have a chance to see the night before. Shuttle transportation will be available or you may just want to stroll along Government Street to take in the art.
